Signs of the Times - Panic and Fear

Like many of you, I have been earnestly seeking the Lord about His directive to us as believers during these days of great panic and fear over the global coronavirus situation.

This article is about how He is showing me that what He says matters more than a plague.

What He says is way more relevant than the pandemic itself.

And the most comforting revelation of all is this – that I find myself actually encouraged by this sign of the times that we are, right now, experiencing.

It’s about His message to those who believe and who are responsible for stewarding that message.

But I am getting ahead of myself. I am almost ashamed to tell you my "process", but I will, because you may relate to it!

When all of this information began to come forth about the coronavirus, I found myself trying to figure things out based on the information being provided to us by the world. And there is a bunch of information floating around! Not to mention the sensationalized component of media of all kinds.

I found myself spending much time researching, analyzing and trying to understand if the panic was really warranted, studying graphs and charts and statistics about previous, similar types of pandemics, intensely weighing information and analyzing the best I could.

At the same time, I found myself discounting and dismissing info coming from many supposedly respectable worldly sources, governmental and otherwise, having my confidence in these types of institutions shaken to the core over the years, particularly over the last several years, where there seems to be a global decline of credibility.

Okay, I know what you are probably thinking about my process. And it’s pretty true - I am what you might call a “hard-head”. I have to figure it out for myself :) In fact, I feel responsible to do whatever I need to do in order to understand to the best of my ability. I am not a person who can just accept what I’m told as being the truth without searching it out for myself. Sometimes I wish I could be more trusting of what I hear without investigating everything, but that’s just not me.

Okay, enough about “my process”! You would think that it would not have taken me such a long time to exhaust all my researching and analyzing and finally accept that I am not going to figure this thing out in a natural way. And even though I often find it difficult to believe words from human beings, I will believe and accept what I hear from Him!

Finally, I settled down and accepted that this worldwide panic over the coronavirus was not going to be understood, at least not by me, with natural wisdom and knowledge. But it can be understood through the lens of the Word of the living God!

How amazing to be comforted by the truth that in the last days there will be worldwide panic! But I am!

“Men swooning away or expiring with fear and dread and apprehension and expectation of the things that are coming on the world; for the very powers of the heavens will be shaken and caused to totter.” Luke 21:26 AMP

“….and in various places famines and pestilences (plagues: malignant and contagious or infectious epidemic diseases which are deadly and devastating); and there will be sights of terror and great signs from heaven.” Luke 21:11 AMP

“And when you hear of wars and insurrections (disturbances, disorder, and confusion), do not become alarmed and panic-stricken and terrified; for all this must take place first, but the end will not come immediately.” Luke 21:9 AMP

He is showing us many things –

Just how fragile our entire world is – in a moment, global panic has taken over our entire world. We see how easily this has happened. In just a few days, we have seen the entire global community come undone.

Human life on planet earth is very fragile. We are like grass that fades, as the Psalmist says. Even though many are blessed to live long lives on this planet, these physical bodies are not going to last forever even under the best of circumstances. And we know from the book of Revelation that at the end of the age there will be huge numbers of the population of earth to die en masse at various times.

In a moment, the infrastructure of the entire world can and will be shaken. We see this right now, today. The governments of this world are impotent to control the happenings on this planet and they are destined to bow to one King.

Global connection of human beings is part of the destiny of mankind – the Lord’s plan is that we become One New Man, Israel and the nations, but the world’s plan is a counterfeit with anti-christs and a Global Worldwide system and government. We are witnessing this.

The world is lining up for the end of the age – global communications, global panic, global leaders, global afflictions and signs, and then the end will come.

If this sounds dark to you, I pray that He will lift you up, encourage you, and pour out the Light of the joy of His promise and bless you with the exhilaration of knowing the final destiny for all of creation and the peace that comes with it. These things that we are experiencing right now are just the beginnings of the birth pangs.

Yeshua wants us to know the signs of the times – He rebuked the Pharisees and the Sadducees because they could not understand the signs of the times:

“You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.” Matt. 16:3

Yeshua sent us the Holy Spirit, the Ruach haKodesh, to tell us of the things that are to come:

“….He will tell you what is yet to come.” John 16:13

I am not sure what will be the outcome of this particular plague of the coronavirus, but I do know that the truth we are to receive in it all is that the Lord is faithful and He is showing us His Word, revealing His truth about the signs of the times. We are actually seeing this with our own eyes.

This generation has seen many things – we have seen many prophecies fulfilled. We have seen Israel become a nation again. We have seen the return of the Jews to their homeland. We have seen nations rise against Israel. We know all the nations of the world will be shaken.

As mentioned before, one of the components of this particular time in history that is different from others is the global aspect. Never have the nations been more tied together and connected as we are today, with global communication and connectivity happening instantaneously because of technology that never existed before.

We are part of a global community, experiencing global shakings, with all humanity joined together as one, facing the signs of the times. We have, existing in the world today, both the counterfeit global unity and the true spiritual unity of One New Man.

There will also be times of revival ahead when many will turn to the Lord while others will turn away. (Matthew 24) Prophecy is being fulfilled right before our eyes.

We must not be afraid of anything that is coming. He has promised us that He will be with us always, even to the end of the age.

At this moment, today, we should be in awe, and we should rejoice because our Redeemer lives and He is coming back to this planet!

“I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end He will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God;

I myself will see Him with my own eyes – I, and not another. (Job 19-25-26)

The cry of my heart resonates with the words of Job -

“How my heart yearns within me!” (Job 19:27)

Thank you, Lord, for revealing to us the signs of the times.
